Columbia 34 MkIIs Downunder

Columbias were built under license around the world, but I have no good handle on which models were built by what companies when. Here is some info from an owner in Australia.

You're right, my C34 was built in Melbourne under licence by International Marine. I think she was one of the last ever built down here which makes her one of the youngest C34's anywhere.

I notice you have a Queensland Australia C34 on yr register built in 1972; this one must've been imported from the United States because International Marine didn't start building them until around 1978. I'm not sure how many were built here, my guess is no more than around 50 of them and you'd still find most of them in their home city of Melbourne. I think mine is the only C34 on Sydney Harbour.

By the way, International Marine seems to have been absolutely faithful to the William Tripp design; I've looked at a lot of photographs of USA C34's and the details are the same as mine.

...I don't think there are any (C-40s) in Sydney though I believe there's a C45 that's been imported here. I see a lot of C27's around Sydney, they must've been built in Australia also.
